The Comanche is the first helicopter that utilized the stealth technology. The RAH-66 was highly advanced as well as ahead of its time. As the first to incorporate the stealth technology, the Comanche used fresh methods to render itself invisible in the radar. Engineers at Sikorsky and Boeing integrated RAM or radar-absorbent material and added infrared-suppressant paint on the faceted surface of the helicopter.

For added stealth, the noise signature is strikingly smaller if compared to other similar units. This was possible with the all-composite 5-blade main rotor and a special tail rotor. The fuselage of the helicopter was made out of composite materials that helped reduce the weight while at the same time boosted the fuel efficiency. The Comanche has the main role of an armed scout. Due to the other projects, the production of the helicopter was stopped back in 2004.
